The Tail Gate Party
Tuesday, October 27
In the Grooming Room at designated grooming places
15 minutes following the conclusion of Tuesday’s judging
Everyone Welcome!
The
Event: This a no-host event. Bring finger
food-type snacks and/or beverage of your choice, find an
available designated grooming table in the designated
area and put your contributions out. Be very careful
with bringing any special serving platters, as some
things get lost in clean-up. We recommend disposable
platters. If you bring a crock-pot type dish, please be
responsible for taking it away at the end of the event.
The club will provide small plates, beverage cups,
non-alcoholic beverages, and napkins. Bring your
snacks, appetizers, and beverages (beer and wine are
very popular. There might be a martini or two
being shaken, not stirred) and let the party begin.
The
History: The tail gate party has become a popular
event at our Fall back-to-back specialties. It was
started in 200?? when Linda Willard’s veteran Buck went
BOB. She went to her set-up and opened a celebratory
bottle of wine.
Mary Meador
and Judy Word, who were crated very close by, asked if
they could bring their snacks and beverages over and
join her. Joyce Kinghorn was crated across the aisle
and at the sight of a "party" couldn't resist and
brought a few things over to join the fun "and a social
event was born". It has grown to the point that last
year there were more emails about what everybody was
bringing to the "not so impromptu party" than anything
else.
The
Designated Area: To help concentrate the gathering
into one area, we will have one section of the grooming
area that is designated for the party. If you would
like to have your grooming area be a part of the party,
check the box on the
Grooming Space Reservation Form.
It is possible that not all people who wish to have
their grooming area part of the party will be in the
designated area.
If you are
set up in the designated area, we would recommend you
have your tables cleaned off as soon as possible
following the conclusion of judging on Tuesday or people
are apt to clean it off for you. The designated
grooming areas will have their tables designated by
colored ribbon, balloons or plastic table skirts. We
will encourage everyone (not just
the people whose tables are being used) to "clean up" 2
hours later for those who need to do any grooming for
the following day. |
