Volunteers – It is Your National, after all:
As
mentioned previously we are a VERY small club.
Fortunately we already have people from all over the
country who have volunteered to help with this event, as
I think it should be. This event has become too large
for most clubs to host entirely on their own. If clubs
realized that volunteers would be available to help, I
think many more clubs would be willing to take on this
task. In this day of rapid communication there are many
jobs that can be done that you do not need to live in
the host city to do. We are building a framework and are
counting on volunteers to come fill in. Since our
volunteer coordinator is also our show secretary for our
fall specialty, we are waiting to launch our help wanted
page on this site until after our November event. We
will have jobs for ring stewards, help at our booth,
hospitality, decoration, field work, track layers etc.
Assuming this event is a profitable adventure, we plan
on making a donation to the Golden Retriever Foundation
in honor of those people who volunteered for the 2009
National. If it is not profitable we will have thought
it was a good idea.
Attitude is everything!
As a
national event we would like to have expertise where
needed in our volunteers. We ask if you do not have
the expertise in an area, please do not volunteer
for that position.. Also, know yourself. We need
people who can have a positive and friendly
attitude, even when in stressful situation. The
positive attitude of our volunteers will have a
major impact on the end product.
If you
are interested in volunteering you will need to fill
out the volunter form and send it to our volunteer
coordinator, Michelle. We want EVERYONE who is
volunteering to fill out the form to send to
Michelle. Even Sharon, the General/Show chair is
sending in her form to Michelle. There is a list
below which will give you information as to what
jobs are available on what days. This will be a
fluid list. As jobs are filled, they will be
removed from the list. As chairs think of
additional help needed, it will be added to the
list.
If we
have a surplus of volunteers, you may not be needed,
however you will be listed in the GRNews for
volunteering. Your name will also be kept as backup
in case someone is unable to fill their position.
If you are asked to fill a position and are unable
to do so, your name will be removed from the
volunteer list
We thank
you in advanced for volunteering. We have already
been inundated with people wanting to volunteer. We
thank you all and look forward to your contacting
Michelle to volunteer officially.
Sharon Bolton
General Chair
We need ALL
Volunteers to register with our volunteer coordinator so
we can have a complete list of all who volunteer. This
is even for those who did not initially volunteer
through this page, those who were solicited, and COGRC
members.
